New Hires ๐ŸŽ‰

Please join me to celebrate 8 more of our members getting jobs! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿฅณ

Gaby has a 3-month internship that might lead to a junior frontend position. She started coding in June 2021.

She says: โ€œBefore getting this internship, I would apply to 20-30 jobs weekly. Persistence is key. The jobs are there, the difficult part is finding them. Never give up!โ€

Congrats to Honey G on landing a job for a company in Singapore!

Abraham has a new job as a frontend developer just one year and two months after starting coding and after spending many sleepless nights fixing bugs ๐ŸŒ™

Smitty has a job doing backend Python for a big US bank! ๐Ÿฆ

Julia got an internship nine months into her coding journey! ๐Ÿคฏ She says that Scrimba helped her more than anything else she found online!

Carlos has a job as a full stack developer with an Israeli start-up! It was a big interview process consisting of weekly interviews for a month and take-home challenges.

Interestingly, Carlos already had backend knowledge, and came to Scrimba to add frontend to his repertoire! Great stuff Carlos! Lots of fun to be had with a start-up!

Artem has a job as a junior frontend developer! He says that because of the war in Ukraine, it is hard to get a job, especially when there are only 10 job openings and 300 candidates per job! Congrats Artem! ๐Ÿฅณ

Artem says he loved Bobโ€™s React course - and will be working with React and React Native in this new role โš›๏ธ

Ulla is proof that you don't need to learn to code from childhood. Exactly one year ago, she quit her job as a medical doctor. She says: "At that moment I still had no clue what to do next. However, I did know I wanted to do something totally different."

โ€‹Read on for Ulla's motivational story!

Resources ๐Ÿ“š

โ€‹Haikei is a web-based design tool to generate unique SVG design assets for websites, social media, blog posts, desktop and mobile wallpapers, posters, and more!

Podcast ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Meet Wemerson Queiroz ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท! Wemerson never thought he was going to become a developer. He started studying computer science, dropped out, and spent ten years working in sales because he wanted to earn money immediately.

Realizing he was unhappy (after all, money is not everything), he learned to code and got his first developer job in no time!

In this podcast episode, you'll learn how far HTML, CSS, and Javascript can get you and how important it is to follow your passion. You'll also hear about Wemerson's unusual interview process and why taking a chance sometimes pays off.

Live-code fun! ๐Ÿ’œ

Leanne was joined on YouTube this week by Scrimba tutor Tom ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

They cooked up an image filter app, and looked at:
๐Ÿ’ป How to create filter buttons
๐Ÿ’ป Allowing the user to upload images
๐Ÿ’ป Allowing the user to create their own filter
๐Ÿ’ป Letting the user download/share their filtered images ๐ŸŽ‰

โ€‹Watch the stream to find out how they did! ๐Ÿ“ธ

Job Board ๐Ÿ‘ท

Whenever Scrimba is approached by a company wanting to hire a frontend developer, we post these opportunities to our Discord #๐Ÿ‘ทjobs board.

This week, Seaker.ai is looking for React.js developers (remote or on-site) who are familiar with .NET ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

Wrap up ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›

It's time for your weekly dose of cuteness from #๐Ÿฑscrimba-pets!

This week, Ashley H has delighted us with a snap of beautiful birdy, Caspar, who loves writing template literals! Would you look at those rosy cheeks! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you for reading, everyone! Have a lovely week, keep calm ๐Ÿง˜ and Scrimba on ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿฆพ
